Angela Fremont’s work focuses attention on global and domestic violence against women and girls.

Bio:

Angela Fremont, artist, activist, art-worker, and educator divides her time between studios in the western Catskills and New York City.  While working for the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Angela created Materials for the Arts – an innovative program that has been replicated in other cities – and continuing to teach painting and drawing at Felician College in New Jersey. She was also making art for Fashion Moda, The Times Square Show, ABC No Rio, the Avant Garde Festival, Artists Space, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and the Museum of the Hudson Highlands.  With a young family to support, she became a teaching artist for 11 years for Studio in a School then a licensed public-school art teacher working for the NYC Department of Education for 20 years before retiring in 2017.  Her BA from NYU concentrated in painting and MA from SUNY New Paltz concentrated in ceramics and drawing. Over the years she has been honored to receive artist residencies including ChaNorth, Pine Plains, NY, The Mac Dowell Colony, Arles sur Tech, France, NY Foundation for the Arts residency at Franklin Furnace, and most recently the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts in Greece.  Angela was the recipient of a Fulbright Hays Fellowship to China in 2015.  Her work is in many private collections both here and abroad. Since 2014 her work has focused attention on global and domestic violence against women and girls.
