DEBORAH SHERMAN
Based in New York City
B. Manhasset, NY
ARTIST STATEMENT:
Deborah Sherman paints classic subjects, portraits, figures, and landscapes, with a unique brushstroke that she refers to as her personal form of calligraphy. Her work captures a recent moment in time and asks the viewer to reconsider stylistically classic paintings as a contemporary art form. Her overall painting technique feels spontaneous, and at the same time laborious and layered.
The artist’s intent is to share her own point of view and emotional response to her subject.
