LINDSEY FRANCES JONES

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Lindsey Frances Jones creates work to show that bold color, shape, and transparency portray emotion, movement, and dynamic symmetry that is playful but truthful to our collective experiences.  Jones seeks to abstract out the shapes and colors of the individual and collective self to tell stories through visual symbols of what it means to be alive in the present.

She is guided by a quote from Henri Matisse —“I’ve always been interested in windows because they represent a passage between outside and inside.” —because I see each experiment I create, from sketchbook to written word, like looking through a window to both myself and others.

BIO:

Lindsey Frances Jones is a mixed media artist, illustrator, printmaker, and art educator based in Washington Heights and Titusville, New Jersey. Her illustrative work can be found at art markets in the greater NYC region.  As an educator, she has worked with adults, kids, and community organizations in mixed-media workshops. She has a Master’s in Art and Art Education from Teachers College Columbia University.
