ARTIST STATEMENT:
My work consists of intricate, detailed interwoven networks, coiling waves or the implied motion of abstract, jewel-like elements. I think of the images as reflections of mental and emotional states.
Because of the complexity of the imagery, my work tends to be small. My preferred mediums are oil paint on board or prepared paper, gouache and graphite. It takes me between one – six months to complete the most detailed pieces. Elaborate gold frames on the paintings emphasize the jewel-like nature of the work.
I have lived in New York City since 1980 and have an MFA in painting from Rhode Island School of Design and a BFA in painting from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. My work is in the J.P. Morgan/Chase bank collection and in several private collections.
