PROJECT DEVELOPMENT: SETTING THE STAGE FOR CLIMATE CHANGE 2023/2024 Project Development Artist Susan Stair
Art Lives Here started working with Harlem based artist Susan Stair in the fall of 2022 to develop a public art installation titled Setting The Stage for Climate Change. The free standing sculpture was unveiled in Morningside Park on August 25th 2023. Art Lives Here chief curator and public art leader Connie Lee worked collaboratively with the artist to fund raise, write grant proposals, fine tune the installation logistics and facilitate approvals with NYC Parks. Stairs experience producing public art installations and her passion for environmental justice were key to selecting her as one of Art Lives Here’s 2023/2024 Project Development Artists. Stair’s installation will be on view from 08/25/2023 through 08/01/2024
Susan Stair is an environmental artist, working with clay impressions of live tree bark, mosaic tiles and found objects. Her intent is always to inform the viewer and to encourage them to take meaningful steps to combat climate change. Meet the artist on September 23, 2023 at the Common Ground Festival in the park. The artist will be presenting a Trashion Show, a fashion show of garments created with detritus and up-cycled materials.
